HAIRSTYLING TOOLS

Brushes and combs

The La Biosthétique hair brushes and combs for well groomed and beautifully styled hair.

Brushes are part of hair care. That is why La Biosthétique offers a wide selection of hairstyling tools. But, when should you use which brush? Which brushes are suitable for which hair types and when should you use a comb? Whoever knows the correct answers to these questions can enjoy a shiny mane and perfect styling. So why should you brush your hair? Mainly to prevent knots or detangle and to bring your style into shape! Furthermore, brushing gives the hair more shine, massages the scalp and boosts its circulation removing hair that has already fallen out (the loss of about 60 hairs a day is normal). Very wavy and curly hair is best combed when wet to maintain its natural structure. Straight hair, on the other hand, can always be brushed. You should generally avoid tearing or breaking off the hair - so the right tool is essential.

The Paddle Brush

Paddle brushes such as the Denman D83 Large brush or the Denman D84 Small brush have a large bristle surface - quite similar to the boat paddle that gives this brush its name. They feel particularly pleasant on the head when the hair is detangled and needs to be gently combed through. Both brushes are manufactured to a high-quality and have ball-ended nylon bristles. These massage the scalp, whilst the bristles gently comb the hair. This sophisticated brush has been popular since 1938, the year it was invented as a "paddle brush" in England by Vidal Sassoon. The current versions are heat and chemical-resistant. The styling brush is an elegant and highly functional classic from La Biosthétique and an essential item in every bathroom.

The Styling Brush is really versatile: the professional brush blow-dries, styles and brushes the hair whilst ensuring maximum protection, an anti-static effect and lots of comfort. La Biosthétique purposely manufactures it from a mixture of natural wild boar and nylon bristles. This combination of natural bristles combats the positively charged ions and gives the hair perfect shine when you brush it, frizz is tamed and static hair is no longer a problem. As the ergonomic handle of the wooden brush is particularly easy to hold, the styling is also incredibly easy and comfortable.

For which hair type?

For fine to thick hair, short to long hair, straight to wavy and curly structures, these brushes are an essential styling tool. However, you need to be skilled with using round brushes on long hair as the tips can get tangled as you twist them on to the brush.

How is it used?

This brush can be used to straighten or volumise individual strands with the help of the blow-dryer, as well as turn the tips in or out. The brush size should be matched to the curl size you are styling. For a good and even result it is important to carefully twist the strands on to the brush and not bend the tips. In addition, the hair shouldn't be too wet for better and faster creation of curls and volume.

The round brush

The round brush has a round or slightly oval shape with bristles all around. It is mainly designed for hairstyles with volume. From a very small to a large diameter, it is available in different sizes and not just for various hair thicknesses, but can also be used for styling sections of hair. It should mainly be used to provide tension and shine in strands or, as desired, it can also be used to create smaller or larger curls. This wooden hairbrush is a salon classic and, with its aluminium or ceramic body, it dries the hair faster as the heat is stored and reflected. Ceramic brushes also have an antistatic effect and are particularly recommended for fine hair. The ionised bristles seal the cuticle and thus create an extra portion of shine and softness, and can be found in brushes such as the Ceramic & Ion 80 mm brush or the Ceramic Hair Brush C-2000 with an additional antibacterial effect.

The tail comb

The practical tail comb from La Biosthétique can be used to create a precise parting with the tail, and the finely arranged teeth can be used for ultra-precise combing. Ideally, it can be used to perfectly section off and prepare individual strands for winding on to all types of curlers. The comb can be used on all types of wet hair. It is not suitable for combing through thick and curly dry hair. However, it is perfect for individual strands, particularly when styling and finishing them, e.g. back-combing. As the material is made of glass fibre, the teeth are very stable, but the comb itself is very light. The pore-free surface is extremely hygienic and is resistant to heat up to 100°C, as well as hair treatment and conditioning products: designed for daily use!

Extra-Tips

  • Regularly clean your hairbrush

After brushing, wherever possible the loosened hair should be removed immediately. As residue of styling products, hairspray and bits of fluff gradually accumulate in the brush, it has to be occasionally cleaned. This is best done with some shampoo, warm water and a nail brush so you can reach the narrow spaces between the bristles. Dry the hairbrush well afterwards.

  • Brush the hair without tearing it

To avoid the uncomfortable and mostly very painful tearing when brushing the hair, you should regularly detangle. Curly hair is best brushed wet. Carefully comb out the ends first and, for long hair, hold a flat hand against the scalp. A conditioner after the shampoo such as Beauté Conditionneur Douceur supplies the hair with intense moisture and makes it easy to comb. As the hair surface is smoothed, the hair becomes softer and glides better through the bristles or teeth. Anti Frizz Styling Balm with the new Aqua Style Complex specially developed by La Biosthétique calms unruly and naturally frizzy hair. The balm can also be used for the tips and is easily worked in after washing. Style hair as usual.
